So how do we do it?
Insulation removal techniques vary amongst the various types of attic setups and insulation. There are two main types of residential insulation - bat / rolled insulation - this is the type of insulation you see homes typically built with and then there is blown in insulation - this insulation is usually installed in a home after its built or during renovations. It is blown into the attic or wall cavities to compensate for a lack of access and for its ease of application. It is not uncommon to find both types of insulation in the same area.
Armstrong would first visit your home to assess the amount of insulation that needs removal and also discuss with you the possible access routes. Most of the time there are existing routes into the attic but in cases where this is not available, we will make one. After an access route is created we will setup our vacuum trucks and prepare the work areas for insulation removal. We will do this by setting up drop cloths and other protective tools around your home. This is to prevent the insulation from invading your living space. After setup we will begin by removing all bat insulation first and then proceed to vacuum out all blown in insulation into filter bags.
Armstrong can also provide a dumpster on site if needed, or we can truck away and dispose of your old insulation.
